ITS contributed to the control of sound levels in a power plant in the Middle East, based on the use of a combustion turbine (with a power of around 140 MW in a simple cycle), by participating in soundproofing actions of:
- the turbine itself
- a gas module
- a generator
These 3 noisy hardware were entirely enclosed using ventilated acoustic enclosures (each: with 4 walls and a roof).
Design and construction of structures for controlling sound levels in a power plant
The design and construction of structures for controlling sound levels in a power plant constitutes a recurring field of activity for ITS and its commercial partners, able to manage the different aspects of such projects:
- structural calculations: for very large metal structures, taking into account site conditions (climatic conditions, seismic risks), to ensure stability even when craning dismantling elements during maintenance or repair works
- acoustical sizing: to respect, near the walls of the enclosures, sound levels as low as 85 dB(A) at 1 meter (which is not nothing when some noise sources have a weighted overall sound power level greater than 135 dB(A)), with a twofold objective:
- noise protection for personnel
- neighborhood quietness
- aeraulic sizing: for a ventilation system necessary to control the temperature inside the sound enclosures and to maintain air quality
- electrical study: for components such as fans, sensors
The construction of these structures for controlling sound levels in a power plant was based on the principle of panels on a metal frame (steel) with:
- for common surfaces: industrial soundproofing panels with an absorbing face (modular)
- for access: (rotating) acoustic doorsets with, for translucent parts (with glazing guaranteeing residual safety in the event of accidental breakage): acoustic window sets
In addition, the ventilation openings of the enclosures have been equipped with ventilation silencers (to avoid an undesirable reduction in overall performance).
The enclosures intended to control sound levels in this power plant were manufactured in accordance with the highest quality standards: first choice raw materials and components, meticulous welding and assembly, rigorous control and careful packaging.
The shipment was carried out using maritime containers, with a detailed nomenclature to ensure smooth assembly on site, even by non-specialized manpower (recruited locally by the End Customer).
Meeting deadlines was not the least of the challenges of this project, which was carried out successfully by ITS and its commercial partners, who have solid references in the design and construction of structures for controlling sound levels in a power plant such as those illustrated in the photos below.
