When one is looking to improve the sound attenuation / sound insulation performance of an existing enclosure (acoustic hood) or of an existing wall, ITS offers a wide range of acoustic foams for all applications related to acoustic insulation / soundproofing related to the protection of workers against noise, preservation of acoustic environment, limitation of noise emissions in the energy sector, testing rooms acoustics.
Acoustic foam is generally available in the form of plates that are either flat or with reliefs e.g. pyramidal or egg-box shaped (this is sometimes called honeycombed or structured foam). Depending on its chemical nature, it may be non-flammable (it is often referred to the name foam M1) or not, and may have a more or less favorable classification of its fumes in case of blaze, which may affect certain uses, especially in buildings and also for some industrial facilities, if considerations related to the risk of fire are taken into account.

In buildings, the acoustic foam can be used for the realization of suspended acoustic correction elements (baffles), aiming to limit the reverberation of premises.
In industrial acoustics, acoustic foam is often used as an absorbent lining for shrouds e.g. for the noise limitation of ultrasonic welding machines, or for ventilation silencers (including for sound-insulated air intakes in habitations), the implementation is then generally facilitated by the use of self-adhesive plates, easy to cut to order (for some applications, a combination with a viscoelastic allows to obtain multilayer soundproofing panels also allowing the limitation of the transmission of noise through the doubling thus formed in addition to allowing sound absorption indside such constructions).
Otherwise, the acoustic foam (wit open cells) can be used for the realization of absorbent elements (called wedges) intended to equip acoustic measurement rooms such as semi-anechoic or anechoic rooms (they differ in that the first are equipped with a reflective floor while the latter are with a floor lined like walls and ceiling).

In such rooms, it is sought for free acoustic field conditions, which are obtained (from a low frequency called cutoff frequency) thanks to the performance of the acoustic foam with respect to the absorption of sound ; evaluations of the acoustic power of various noisy hardwares, and in general, R & D in acoustics are then possible in such rooms.
